MERCED, California

The Sikh family kidnapped from their Merced business have been found dead at a remote Dos Palos orchard Wednesday.

It was yesterday, Wednesday October 6th of 2022 that Sheriff Vern Warnke received a call saying that a farmer had discovered the bodies.  The victims were Jasleen Kaur and her 8-month old, Aroohi Dheri, as well as the father Jasdeep Singh, 36 and uncle Armandeep Singh, 39.

Warnke said, “…there’s a special place in hell for this guy…” when discussing the case.

The suspect was identified as Jesus Salgado, 48.  Detectives say Salgado had kidnapped the family from their Merced trucking business.  He tried taking his own life but is currently at the Merced hospital.

The bodies were said to be found in a Dos Palos orchard which is about 30 miles south of where the family was taken.  It has not yet been revealed how the family died.

Jesus Salgado was on Parole, after he had been sentenced to 11 years for attempted false imprisonment and robbery charges.  From his hospital bed, Salgado has been talking with detectives and it is believed at least 1 other person was involved.

There is still no evidence that shows that the family had any link with Salgado before they were kidnapped.
