Modesto Burglary Suspect Arrested August 9th 2022
Suspected Burglar was Arrested-Stolen Property was returned to owner
This morning around 2:30 a.m. there were officers that were dispatched to the 2800 block of Sapphire Drive to report on a burglary that involved an equipment trailer. While some officers were heading that way, a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle of the suspect was spotted near East Briggsmore Ave. & Claus Road. At a point when the officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, the suspect did not stop and continued to flee from officers. After only a short time, the suspect’s vehicle hit a street sign at Parker Ave. and Wellsford. When police officers confronted the vehicle, the driver backed up his vehicle onto an officer’s patrol car, then continued fleeing. The driver made it to Turlock where he then crashed at Tuolumne Ave. and Crowell Ave. The suspect was then taken into custody with the assistance of our allied agencies.
The driver was confirmed to be, 35-year-old Joseph Jones, resident of Waterford, was arrested and charged with reckless driving, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, evading, second degree burglary, hit and run, possession of a controlled substance, and driving without a license.
All of the victim’s property was located in Jones’ vehicle. Those stolen items were returned to the victim.
