Mother Killed Outside Sacramento Trampoline Park; Fresno Man Charged With Murder
A Fresno man is facing murder and attempted murder charges after a deadly shooting outside a Sacramento trampoline park killed 29-year-old Samantha Sue Cromwell and critically wounded another woman.
The shooting happened September 26 outside Urban Air Adventure Park on Arden Way in Sacramento.
Cromwell’s family said she was at the trampoline park to celebrate her son’s eighth birthday.
Sacramento police later arrested 36-year-old Edward Lee Daniel Tucker Jr. of Fresno. Prosecutors have since filed four felony charges against him.
The criminal case remains pending. Tucker has not been convicted, and the charges against him remain allegations.
Shooting Reported Outside Urban Air
Sacramento police responded to the 1700 block of Arden Way after receiving reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found two adult women suffering from gunshot wounds.
Cromwell died at the scene.
A second woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Court-related reporting later identified her as Faith Jenkins.
The shooting happened outside Urban Air Adventure Park while children and families were inside the business.
Witnesses told local news outlets they heard gunfire and rushed to protect their children.
Samantha Cromwell Was Celebrating Her Son’s Birthday
Cromwell’s family said she had gone to Urban Air to celebrate her son’s eighth birthday.
Relatives described her as a loving mother who cared deeply about her family.
Her stepfather told local reporters that much of Cromwell’s life revolved around her son.
Her death has also brought attention to allegations surrounding her relationship with Tucker.
Family Says Cromwell Was Trying to Leave Relationship
Cromwell’s relatives told CBS Sacramento that she and Tucker had been married.
Her family alleged that the relationship had become abusive. They also said Cromwell had been trying to leave the relationship.
Those claims come from Cromwell’s family.
Police have not publicly established domestic violence as the official motive for the shooting.
The case remains under investigation, and prosecutors will have to prove the criminal allegations against Tucker in court.
Fresno Man Arrested After Deadly Shooting
Investigators continued working the case after the shooting.
Sacramento police later identified Tucker as a 36-year-old Fresno resident.
Authorities arrested him and booked him into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
Prosecutors subsequently filed charges connected to the shootings of both women.
Prosecutors File Four Felony Charges
Tucker faces four felony counts in Sacramento County.
