Mark Harrison, 54, was killed in a shooting Sunday afternoon in East Central Fresno, and police say a suspect is now under arrest.

Fresno police responded around 2:19 p.m. to the area of Fordham and Dayton avenues after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Harrison suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, he died at the scene.

A 61-year-old woman was also found shot. She was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and is expected to survive.

Suspect Arrested

Police say 50-year-old Rufus Levels was arrested Monday in connection with the case. Authorities booked him on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, and robbery.

As of the latest reports, police have not publicly explained what led up to the shooting or released a detailed motive. Investigators are still asking anyone with information to come forward.

That detail has added another painful layer to the case, as the family now grieves Harrison while also processing the trauma of children being present during the violence.

Police have not released many details about the relationship between Harrison and the suspect. Family members told ABC30 they believed the two men knew each other, but investigators have not fully explained the connection or what may have led to the shooting.
