Alan Cazares Stockton Homicide: What Happened on April 26, 2019
STOCKTON, Calif. — On April 26, 2019, a young Stockton man was killed in a shooting that became part of a violent stretch of cases in the city.
The victim was later identified in local reporting as Alan Cazares, 23. ABC10 listed Cazares among Stockton’s 2019 homicide victims and reported that he was shot and killed on April 26 near Delhi Avenue.
The case later led to an arrest. CBS Sacramento reported that Stockton police arrested Jose Omar Flores, 33, in connection with the April 26 homicide in the 400 block of Delhi Avenue.
Police Responded to a Shooting Near Delhi Avenue
CBS Sacramento first reported the case as part of two separate Stockton homicides that happened within minutes of each other on Friday evening, April 26, 2019.
According to that report, police responded to a call near Harrison Street and Delhi Avenue after a person was shot. Officers found a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
At the time of the first report, police had not named a suspect in that shooting. Investigators asked anyone with information to contact the Stockton Police Department.
Alan Cazares Was 23 Years Old
Gun Memorial lists Alan Cazares as 23 years old and says he was lost to gun violence on April 26, 2019, in Stockton, California.
ABC10 also listed him as 23 in its Stockton homicide roundup. That roundup identified him as one of the people killed during a violent year in Stockton.
Stockton Police Later Arrested Jose Omar Flores
Nearly a month later, CBS Sacramento reported that Stockton police arrested Jose Omar Flores, who was 33 at the time, in connection with the April 26 Delhi Avenue homicide.
According to CBS Sacramento, officers spotted Flores near Eighth Street and Interstate 5. Police arrested him after a short foot pursuit.
CBS Sacramento reported that police described Flores as a homicide suspect accused of shooting and killing a man on Delhi Avenue.
What Is Still Unclear Publicly
Public news reports confirm the shooting, the victim’s name, and the later arrest. However, the publicly available sources found during this search did not confirm a motive, conviction, sentencing, or final court outcome.
Because of that, this story should be described as a reported homicide case with an arrest, not as a confirmed conviction unless a court record or later reliable source is found.
Why This Case Still Matters
The Alan Cazares case remains part of Stockton’s local crime history from 2019. It also shows how quickly a neighborhood shooting can become a lasting tragedy for a family and a community.
For Stockton residents, the case is another reminder of the young lives lost to gun violence and the many unanswered questions that can remain long after the headlines fade.
