Tatyana McIntyre Fresno Homicide: Ex-Boyfriend Arrested

FRESNO, Calif. — The Tatyana McIntyre Fresno homicide investigation has led to the arrest of her ex-boyfriend after police found the 30-year-old Fresno woman dead inside a southeast Fresno home.

Fresno police identified the suspect as 39-year-old Jeffrey Michaels. Authorities accuse Michaels of killing McIntyre after she went to his home on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Family members also knew McIntyre as Alison Riley.

Police say Michaels later left the Fresno area. Investigators tracked him to the Salinas area before a detective persuaded him to return and surrender.

Michaels remains in custody as the homicide investigation continues. Authorities have not announced a motive.

McIntyre went to Michaels’ Fresno home on Tuesday, August 4, according to investigators.

Surveillance footage captured the rental vehicle traveling near the area Tuesday afternoon. ABC30 later reported that additional surveillance video shows McIntyre’s Fiat being followed by a white truck associated with Michaels.

The vehicle evidence gave investigators another piece of the timeline as they searched for McIntyre and later investigated her death.

The combination of surveillance footage, vehicle information and evidence collected at the Fresno home helped detectives continue building the case.

Fresno Police Track Jeffrey Michaels Toward Salinas

Police say Michaels left Fresno in a borrowed vehicle after McIntyre was killed.

Investigators used Flock license plate reader technology to track the vehicle toward the Salinas area, according to Fresno police.

Meanwhile, a Fresno detective established communication with Michaels.

Chief Casto said that detective developed enough rapport with Michaels to convince him to return to Fresno and surrender to authorities.

The investigation that led to his arrest lasted approximately 63 hours, according to police.

Fresno County Jail records showed Michaels booked in connection with a murder allegation. ABC30 reported Saturday that Michaels remained jailed with bail set at $1 million.

Police Discuss History Between McIntyre and Michaels

Investigators have also examined the history between McIntyre and Michaels.

Fresno police described their relationship as tumultuous and said authorities had documented a history of domestic violence involving the former couple.

Family members had also previously raised concerns about the relationship.

However, police have not publicly announced a specific motive for McIntyre’s death.
